Description
The WolKombers is more than a blanket — it’s a piece of South Africa’s heart and heritage, buried into every fibre.
Proudly crafted in South Africa from ethically sourced sheep’s wool, each blanket tells a story of the vast Karoo landscape, local craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature. We believe that comfort should be authentic, sustainable, and made with care.
To honour both the wool and the environment, harsh chemical carbonisation processes have been avoided. These processes are often used in large-scale wool production. Instead, these blankets are as natural as possible, preserving the integrity and character of the fibre. As a result, you may occasionally notice tiny traces of the Karoo still nestled within your blanket — small pieces of grass or natural veld matter. These are not flaws, but a beautiful reminder that your blanket comes from real wool, gently processed and kept close to its natural state.
By choosing these fabulous winter warmers, you can reduce your environmental impact while celebrating the unique qualities of South African wool. It’s our way of staying true to what matters most: promoting beautiful, locally made products that bring warmth, comfort, and a connection to the land we call home.
These blankets are 90% wool, and stabilised with 10% recycled PET to ensure that they are washable (water should be under 30 degrees C). They are also not woven, but rather needle-punched, allowing us to sell these for significantly less than a woven or knitted wool blanket.
