Karoo Creations

EXCEPTIONAL SUMMER SLEEP IS HERE.

Karoo Ultralight Wool Duvet

Unlike lightweight down duvets, a Karoo wool ultralight duvet does not trap body heat, and through its natural moisture management properties will reduce your night sweats. Filled with a soft layer of wool, you’ll experience truly beautiful sleep during warm summer nights. Exquisitely crafted by talented South African artisans, these duvets are a lifetime investment for deeper, longer sleep.

Say goodbye to hot, restless nights and the constant battle of kicking off the duvet. Our lightest, coolest, and thinnest handmade wool duvet is thoughtfully designed for hot sleepers and perfectly suited to warmer climates.

Wrap yourself in the gentle embrace of luxurious pure sheep’s wool and experience the exceptional comfort of its naturally lofty fibres. Expertly handcrafted, our sheep wool duvets offer outstanding temperature regulation while remaining naturally hypoallergenic.

As more people seek ethical, sustainable luxury, sheep wool is quickly becoming the gold standard in premium bedding. Enjoy deep, uninterrupted sleep without overheating, wake free from night sweats, and breathe easier with reduced allergens.

Wake each morning feeling truly rested, refreshed, and restored.
  • A truly South African product – meticulously crafted by artisans using 100% pure sheep wool to adhere to international quality standards
  • Sleep deeper – your beneficial deep sleep cycles will naturally improve by up to 25%
  • Temperature regulation – keep you cool in summer and warm in winter
  • Moisture control – never wake up sweaty again, the duvet releases heat and moisture through the night
  • No plastic – free of synthetics and chemicals and no VOC’s
  • Allergy reducing – naturally dust mite and mildew resistant
  • Our unique quilted duvet design – keeps the filling in place and ensures no clumping or movement
  • Environmentally friendly – pure sheep wool from the Karoo, processed in Paarl and made in Richmond with 100% cotton casing. Proudly South African.
  • DO NOT MACHINE WASH, IRON or DRY CLEAN. Use the natural sanitizing power of the sun and air the duvet 3-4 times a year. Alternate with a thorough vacuum on your unmade mattress.

Air your duvet, mattress topper, or pillows in indirect sunlight every 2–3 months to keep them fresh. Turn once during airing and limit direct sun exposure to 60–90 minutes, as excessive heat can cause shrinkage.

Every few months, vacuum your duvet insert or mattress topper to circulate air through the fibres and reduce moisture build-up. Occasionally leave your bed unmade in the morning to allow overnight moisture to evaporate.

Always use a duvet cover, pillow protector, and pillowcase to protect your bedding.

Do not machine wash or dry clean your wool bedding. Domestic washing machines and dry-cleaning chemicals can permanently shrink, felt, or harden the fibres. Our wool is not pre-shrunk, and the fibres retain their natural memory, making them especially sensitive to heat, agitation, and chemicals.

For minor marks, spot clean only using a very gentle soap such as Boereseep. A diluted hydrogen peroxide solution or Londa Bio Oxy Bleach may also be used. Dry the area gently with a hairdryer.

For deeper cleaning of a soiled area:

  • Fill a bath or bucket with cool water and dissolve a mild detergent before use.
  • Suitable options include Woollite, Boereseep, Londa Bio Oxy Bleach, or Londa Bio Laundry Powder.
  • Do not use fabric softener.
  • Submerge only the affected area and soak for about an hour.
  • Gently move the area in the water without rubbing, wringing, or agitating.
  • Rinse using water at the same temperature to avoid felting.
  • Press out excess water gently and air dry flat, out of direct sunlight, until completely dry.

Our pillows feature a zippered outer casing with a removable inner wool sleeve. The outer casing can be washed separately, while the wool filling may be refreshed in sunlight for 1–2 hours. Do not wash or dry clean the wool itself. For personalised comfort, you may remove some wool filling and store it in a breathable cotton bag or pillowcase.

Avoid exposing your bedding to prolonged direct sunlight, damp conditions, or extreme temperatures.

When not in use, always store your duvet, mattress topper, or pillows in a breathable cotton bag — never plastic. Do not vacuum pack wool bedding.

Tips for Humid Climates

  • Use a dehumidifier where possible.
  • Air wool-filled items more frequently.
  • Vacuum duvet inserts and mattress toppers regularly to improve airflow through the fibres.
  • While wool naturally resists mould and mildew, regularly check your bed base or slats for any signs of moisture or mould growth.
Filled with a thin layer of pure wool, this duvet has a pure white 233 thread count downproof cover with a comforting rustle to it. With its block quilted pattern, there will be no migration of the filling to the edges of the duvet. White binding around the edges give a neat finish. The duvet has rounded corners.

A luxurious feather-light pure wool duvet to keep you cooler on hot summer nights!

Wool has natural thermo-regulating properties that will keep your body at the correct temperature for sleep in all seasons. Down, feather and polyester duvets are natural insulators that trap heat close to the body and cause you to sweat even more.

When you sleep under one of our ultralight wool duvets, your body heat is naturally dissipated through the fibres, allowing you to stay in a deeper sleep for longer. Your quality of sleep will improve. Dramatically.

Sweating is another by-product of an insulating duvet such as down, feathers or plastic. Wool is an ancient fibre that has moisture-wicking properties. This means it draws the moisture away from your body and allows it to evaporate into the environment giving you a much drier sleep.

Your sleep, perfected.

Experience the difference that natural fibres make to your sleep.

Handcrafted from nature’s finest materials, our bedding is exceptionally breathable, naturally temperature regulating, and beautifully soft, helping you stay comfortably warm in winter and cool in summer.

Unlike synthetic alternatives, natural fibres wick away moisture, promote healthier sleep, give off no chemical off-gassing, and are designed to last for decades.

The result is an effortless sense of quiet luxury—beautiful bedding that not only feels exquisite but creates a restorative sleep experience, night after night.

Elevate your nightly ritual with the unmatched breathability of natural fibers from the beautiful Karoo plains.

While conventional down and synthetic polyester bedding trap heat and cause night-time discomfort, our sustainably sourced wool, Alpaca and Mohair bedding products act as a personal climate control system. By actively wicking away moisture and releasing excess heat, they create a perfectly dry, beautifully balanced microclimate that guarantees uninterrupted, restorative rest.

Indulge in a healthier, allergen-free sanctuary designed for beautiful sleep. Free from the synthetic chemical off-gassing of polyester and the dust-mite risks of traditional down, these biodegradable bedding items offer a pure, hypoallergenic sleep environment. Experience the pinnacle of sustainable luxury and transform your bedroom into a refined oasis of compromise-free comfort.
